circa 1988:
I started as a part time DJ on weekends for a great company called Sound Entertainment in , fell in love with the business, quickly moved up the ranks of a 33 DJ staff, with all credit and accolades to my trainers, Dave Johnson, Paul McGann, and many others including a wonderful boss who obviously saw something in me.
circa 1991:
Moved into sales for the company and found that selling a job I loved so much was an easy transition. Became one of the top sales people for a company doing at that time well half a million dollars in annual sales. Began doing other management aspects and began seeing the potential to grow the business.
circa 1994:
After approaching the owner about improving the business he was hesitant but after a discussion he offered me the business to buy and make all the changes I wanted, it was a big risk, and after a second mortgage and a loan from my mother for $20,000 Sound Entertainment was mine. With an incredible staff, Marc, Kimber and a tremendous staff of talent Sound Entertainment grew to three locations in the state. Quickly we became the largest and most reputable company in the state if not the southeast.
circa 1998:
With our noticeable growth, the nations largest DJ business offered to buy the company, and I agreed to remain as a consultant for a period of one year. I then took a brief retirement from DJing, however that didn't last long.
Circa 1999:
I formed Robb Smith Productions, founded the FAME DJ School to train DJ's all over who needed help. Both businesses have grown to the levels they are today a staff of nine multi talented entertainers, the FAME DJ school has trained and certified over 1000 DJ's and continues to grow each year.
Present day:
RSP inc, The FAME DJ School, GAME SHOW PARTY and Rev Robb (officiant service) are doing well and we look forward to a great career but more importantly, nobody has a greater life than me, I get paid to entertain people and have fun.
